COME VISIT OUR MASTER GARDENER DEMONSTRATION GARDEN
In 2013, recently graduated Fairfield County Extension Master Gardeners embarked on a mission to create a demonstration garden that would educate the public on organic gardening methods and raise organic produce to be donated to our area food pantries.
The garden has grown to a 1,850 square foot garden, growing vegetables, herbs, fruits, flowers (native, pollinators). It demonstrates a variety of ways to garden, including vertical structures, containers, troughs, raised beds. Rain gardens, rain barrels, and composting are available to inspect.
THE GARDEN IS OPEN MOST SATURDAYS DURING THE GROWING SEASON AND
MASTER GARDENERS ARE AVAILABLE TO ANSWER YOUR GARDENING QUESTIONS
The Fairfield County Demonstration Gardens’ (FCDG) mission is to serve as an educational tool, and a showcase for vegetable, fruit, and herb plantings, to generate interest in potential gardeners and to support and educate existing gardeners. The FCDG supports the community with information on growing options, sustainable garden techniques and horticultural practices provided by UConn Master Gardeners and as defined by the Master Gardener Program. Garden harvests will benefit local community pantries and/or be sold to support garden projects directly.
